Flushing Restaurant Kanes Diner Sets To Close Its Doors After 50 Years

Kane’s Diner, a Flushing restaurant located at 44-15 College Point Boulevard will finally be closing its doors on May 1st after having been in business since 1968.

Local patrons flocked to the diner last night to reminisce in nostalgic memories and eat comfort food.  The wait line to get into the eatery ran as long as an hour and ultimately customers had to be turned away as hamburgers, steaks, and other select items ran out of stock.

The diner is owned by siblings George, Patricia and Toni Kane, who said the diner was the legacy of their father Ernie.  The Kane family indicate they are selling the diner for personal reasons with a list price of $15 million.  Toni said the family has formally contracted with Long Island-based Kenny Liu, who has developed several residential buildings in the Flushing area.

Local residents are speculating that the parcel of land on which the diner currently sits will likely give way to a multi-storied development, as College Point Boulevard and the surrounding area are in a building boom..
